Dear Voter:
In the 2006 Primary election we WON with 57% of the vote, but not the General election.  However, this election, we look forward to reclaiming this seat for Democrats, Independents, working families, seniors, veterans and others who want to live the “American Dream”

EDUCATION… FIRST. As math-science professor for 30 years, I know the critical role education plays in securing the American Dream.  Our schools and universities were once the envy of the nation. I will fight to fully-fund education, recruit qualified teachers, and make tuition affordable so students can build a brighter future.

California faces a serious budget shortfall:  a growing $16 billion budget deficit, and a troubled housing market and ‘unstable’ economy.  There are 5.1 million working families without health insurance.  Likewise, we have a problem of seasonal wildfires, fresh water reserves and sustainable water levees; global warming challenges that affect health and ‘quality of life’ conditions; and judicial policies that allocate $9 billion annually to a broken prison system. 
These are pressing issues, and I am committed and independent to stand up for us. I will push for transparency and efficiency in government, and solicit your help in winning this election.
